On November 14, 2019, David Schertler participated in an antitrust law panel discussion of United States v. Usher, et al., the Southern District of New York prosecution of three foreign currency exchange traders that resulted in acquittals of all three defendants, including Schertler & Onorato’s client. The program on “Big Stakes Antitrust Trials” took place in San Francisco, California, and was sponsored by the Antritrust, UCL and Privacy Section of the California Lawyers Association. The Usher case involved allegations that the defendants, who were FX traders based in London, used an online chatroom to fix prices in the euro-to-dollar foreign exchange market. The acquittals followed a two-week jury trial in October 2018. Mr. Schertler led the S&O trial team in the Usher case. He began his career in the Antitrust Division of the United States Department of Justice and has substantial expertise in antitrust matters.
